Welcome to General Information Membership InformationThe Steel City Boogie Club is not a “place”, it is its members. By joining the Club, you are assuring its survival, so that you will have an inexpensive, friendly, and safe place to dance on a regular basis. Membership dues are necessary to pay the administrative expenses of the Club’s operation. As a member, you get discounted admission fees to all regular dances and special events, the “Boogie Beat” newsletter, and early opportunities to purchase tickets to our annual weekend extravaganza, “Boogie in the Burgh”. Membership runs from January 1 ~ December 31, and dues for the first year are $36.00. Members can renew each year for just $25.00. Dance Lessons The SCBC offers formal and informal dance lessons. Complimentary informal dance lessons are offered one hour prior to each regular dance. Depending on the needs/requests of our guests, there may be one main lesson or several mini-lessons going on simultaneously. Volunteer instructors are on hand to teach new dancers the basics or experienced dancers a new step. For those who have made a personal commitment to learn to Shag or Jitterbug in more depth, the SCBC offers formal dance lessons every Monday night at the Day’s Inn on Banksville Road. The cost is $3.00 for members and $5.00 for non-members. Call the Hotline to confirm dates 724-728-7222. SCBC DJs “Big Pete” Hanen: Big Pete has been playing in the eastern Ohio/western PA area for years now. He has an ear for blues/boogie beach music and a big smile! Kevin Mahoney: Kevin has been a DJ around town for years and he, too, plays a wide variety of dance and beach music at our Sunday dances. JD Merkel: JD plays a wide variety of swing music to satisfy every Jitterbug, Shag, West or East Coast Swing dancer.
